Registered Massage Therapist (RMT)
Terri Garvey is an RMT bringing 16 years experience to the table.
Her diverse massage background started in Ontario with a keen interest in sports therapy, rehabilitation and nursing. Her continued education in anatomy and physiology ultimately led her down a more relaxed path into the field of Massage Therapy.
Eventually, her career evolved into managing her own massage practice and mobile service. Terri sharpened her skills by developing patient based treatment goals and doing assessments in long term care facilities and a physiotherapy clinic. Her treatment concentration at that time was motor vehicle accidents and sports injuries. However, Terri is capable of treating patients with a variety of physical disorders and limitations. She has also worked in renowned spas from Toronto to Tofino and in the Comox Valley.
Terri is passionate about applying therapeutic solutions to the challenges her clients present, finding it deeply rewarding to assist in their progress and recovery. She achieves this by implementing skilled service through an assortment of modalities such as Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy and Swedish Massage techniques. A key component of her wholistic approach to treatment is lending guidance to clients on home care, health maintenance and injury prevention. Terri applies her knowledge in a variety of meaningful ways. Due to her own struggles of healing from limiting and painful injuries, she has an empathetic approach to treatment. Supporting a relaxed approach to wellness and holding a safe space is naturally created by her calm and intuitive nature.
Terri feels confident in delivering “treatment and prevention of the soft tissues and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain and augment physical dysfunction or relieve pain”. With extensive experience working towards improving conditions such as fibromyalgia, tension headaches, sciatica and piriformis syndrome. Helping to reduce the physical tensions that come with hormonal changes and transitions women experience is also something Terri is well versed in. She takes pride in her professional standards and work ethics while assisting clients to gain a sense of wellness and relaxation.
Terri is also a Certified Aromatherapist and Reflexologist and has an interest to pursue more education in the field of Craniosacral Therapy. She understands the importance of self care and nurtures herself through the healing properties of aromatherapy, music, dance, yoga, mindful meditation, animal companionship, and communing with nature.
